550 Entries at my favorite race of the year. The track is large and covered. The layout was technical yet flowing. I raced in the 1/8 40+ Nitro Buggy and 1/8 Open Nitro Buggy classes.

In 40+ Nitro Buggy my buggy was very good on the slick groove and I finished 5th, 2nd, and TQ in rounds 1-3 to start P2 in the A-main. I use VP-Pro SS Gripz, SS Rain Master, and SS Blades/Rain Master trying to find the best combo on the ever changing track surface.

For the main I used the same setup as round 3 but the track dried out more than on Saturday so SS would a little too soft and my buggy was hard to drive. I had to put in a backup engine because my qualifying engine ran out of pinch. It felt rich in the main so I could not do the triple double jump. I was able to hang on to 5th overall but was not on pace to battle to the lead this time.

In Open buggy, I used the same tires as 40+ for qualifying and finished 6th, 5th, and 4th to start P6 in the A-Main. For the main I went with SSLW Cactus because the track was getting dusty and those are my goto dusty groove tires. I leaned the engine out hoping for more power but then it started to lean bog and I still could not make the triple double. The tires were a little firm for the damp slick groove but got better as they broke in and heated up and had more traction every lap. I crashed at the start and dropped to the back and was only able to work back up to 6th place, I tried to make a pass for 5th in the last corner of the last lap but ran into a back marker and came up short of a podium.

Qualification went well but the mains did not. Even though I did not get the results I expected, it was still a fun weekend at the track racing with friends, and a great distraction to the tyrannical turmoil the world is currently in. Until next time, stay healthy and stay FREE!
