The Force Series race report.

It was a light turnout, there were only 100 entries - were the racers afraid of the 80% chance of rain Saturday or the afraid of catching the Cornhole Virus?🤷‍♂️

The track at Sundancers R/C Raceway was dialed - thanks Dean and the track crew for your hard work repairing the track after the rain.

I arrived Saturday evening right after the rain storm. I had a new piston and sleeve installed in my Atom engine so I had to run in the mud to finish breakin. I ran 2 tanks and it ran perfect without touching the needles. I switched to back NitroPro fuel for this race and didn’t have to adjust the carb settings at all from the Breakin with my old fuel. It felt like the power was the same as before except it was running much cooler. It came off 5 pounds heavier and still only 245’f. I normally run it at 270’f to get the power I like, so I was very happy to be back with NitroPro again.

The track was still wet and loamy for the qualifying Sunday because of the clouds out. I ran VP-Pro SS Rain Masters tires in 40+ Nitro Buggy. They were good and I qualified 2nd for the A-main. Teammate Juan Gascot took TQ with VP-Pro Turbo Trax.

In Pro Buggy the track started to dry out because the sun finally came out. I tried VP-Pro Clay Blades. There were great on the wet parts of the track but loose on the dry dusty sections but I still qualified 4th overall.

The A-mains were run late in the afternoon so the track was 100% different and super grooved up. It was dry, a little dusty, and bumpy because the clay was still soft from the rain. Tire choice would be key.

In the 40+ main I went with VP-Pro SLW Cactus. The Cactus is a tall 2-stage small pin tire that cuts through the dust better then any other tire, yet still lasts forever because of the triangle shaped lower pin base. Unfortunately the temperature got up to 91’f and there was very little dust after the track was blown off, so the tall pin was not ideal for the conditions. They had too much traction so I had to drive very conservative to avoid traction rolling. I flipped a few times in the beginning but stayed in 2nd place. After 7 minutes or so the leader flamed out and I went on to lap the field. But after my first pit stop at 8 minutes, my engine broke in and went rich and flamed out. My pitman Ryan Lecyer got me restarted and back out still in the lead. I went on to take the win by a good margin. My Soar TD1R.2 Buggy was perfect, just needed a different tire choice.

Pro Nitro Buggy was up next back to back so all I had time to do was change tires and clean my body. I went with VP-Pro SLW Turbo Trax. I had a set of Blades mounted up but Turbo Trax work better if it’s dusty so I didn’t take the gamble. I got a great start and took the lead on lap 2. I lead for about 7 minutes before crashing and dropping to 3rd. I pitted at 9 minutes for a 2 stop pit strategy for the 25 minute main. 2nd place eventually broke so I moved up and went on to finish 2nd behind Julien Oliveras. Juan Gascot finished 3rd also on VP-Pro Turbo Trax. The tires were perfect and showed no additional wear at all - they were used and already broken in before the race.

All in all it was a near perfect weekend. My Atom SV-1R ran perfect with NitroPro fuel in the Pro Buggy A-main. My Soar buggy was on rails with VP-Pro tires. My SRT servos are still working flawlessly after almost a year. And my buggy looks Dialed thanks to EZ Customs-Airbrush Graffix.
